Also known as Teeth Whitening
- Description: Most people want a bright, white smile. Tooth whitening is a method of chemically lightening the color of your teeth. It works best for yellow and brown staining commonly resulting from things such as coffee, tea, wine, and tobacco use. The process lightens natural tooth structure only. Some people may need to re-bleach every 9-12 months to maintain their brighter shade.
- Reason to get tooth whitening: To esthetically improve the shading of stained or darkened teeth.
- What to expect at your appointments:
1st appointment – Putty impressions are taken of your teeth. Before your next appointment, plastic trays are formed that fit your teeth precisely.
2nd appointment – Trays are checked to be certain they fit your teeth precisely. We will provide you with instructions as well as the bleaching chemicals to apply to your trays.
When at home, bleaching chemicals are applied to your teeth via the trays periodically until the desired color change is reached. At this office we prefer tray bleaching to one-time in office bleaching for a number of reasons. Tray bleaching provides a longer lasting change in shade, creates less sensitivity, and allows “touch-up” bleaching whenever you want, without a visit to the office.
