- Description: A denture is a plastic removable device, shaped like teeth and gum tissue, which is used to replace an arch or row of missing teeth.
- Reason for getting a denture: When tooth structure is missing, weak, or broken, you cannot chew effectively, leading to frustration, discomfort, and malnutrition. Broken or missing teeth in your smile can also be embarrassing, and effect how the rest of your lips and facial features appear. Health problems can also result from severely damaged teeth that become infected. A denture can be used to replace these damaged or missing teeth, improve your chewing function, and give you a beautiful smile.
- What to expect at your appointments: A number of short appointments are required to create this device. The initial appointment will involve an evaluation and possibly impressions. If extractions of any remaining teeth are required, they will be scheduled at our office, or in certain cases, with an oral surgeon. A few more diagnostic appointments will supply the laboratory with all the information needed to fabricate your denture. Once created, your denture will be fine tuned to your comfort.
